Review:
This book was actually quite adorable in different ways, the quirkiness, weirdness and realness of that awkward stage in your life where you are so unsure of things but want things to work out the way you want them to.  It was a really cute coming of age story that really had me hooked with these weird rock band high school kids.  Sometimes life is really hard at that age and parents need to remember that, just a side note of my opinion.

We meet Riley and Reid who are in a band and tired of being lonely and want to find love for one another, but not with one another so they devise this plan to write everything down to help each other.  OF course you can imagine when you write things down things get disastrous in the end, but somehow honesty brings everything to light and works itself out.  Sort of.  Riley has a huge crush on this one guy, and even though there are other guys throughout her adventures there is still the one main person she has her eye on, Ted.  At first I wasn’t feeling Ted but as time passed I saw he was just as nervous as she was to pull something off together.  Again it was super adorable to see these awkward teenagers find each other.

There were some really great scenes between friends and new friends that I definitely think were worth reading.  Everything had a purpose in this book and even though we really didn’t focus on Reid as much, it was still nice to see his adventures through his journal entries into their infamous book.  Sometimes it is just as hard for a guy to go up to a girl, sometimes you can’t always be That Guy.

I had a really good time reading this book and about halfway through I was a marathon reader trying to get through to the end to see what was going to happen.  It just flowed that smoothly that I read it that quickly because it kept me entertained the whole way through.  I think it could have focused a little more on the friendship between Lucy and Riley, but it touched on it which was important enough.  You just can’t let boys get in the middle of friendships, because they will come and go but friends are forever especially if they’ve been friends for such a long time.

Overall I really enjoyed the book and hope you do too.  It flowed smoothly and was entertaining from beginning to end because you just never knew what to expect next between everyone.  Although I will say I do personally think things progressed between Riley and Ted a little too quickly sometimes it just happens that way.  Things happen, it’s how you deal with them that matter and also I remember what it was like to be a teenager, good times.
